Blunn Creek is an isolated pocket of the central Texas Greenbelt, surrounded by a neighborhood in East Austin. This project is my interpretation of an identity for Blunn Creek. I became inspired after hiking at the nature preserve and experiencing the geological phenomena there. I created a logo that combined the hiking trail and the different sediments and warm, contrasting colors from the browns and greens there.
My primary motivation and direction became focused on hiking. I constructed a trailhead sign with a corresponding map. Mimicking the logo, the sign consisted of three slats across, each containing information: location, trail entrance name with hours, and rules. Consistent with the colors from the logo, each sign would be one of the colors in two lighter shades. The map indicated where the hiker was and notable natural features throughout the nature preserve.
To go along with the hiking theme, I dip dyed three versions of t-shirts. Park goers could buy on the Blunn Creek Volunteer website, where all proceeds would go back into the volunteer project. Each shirt is one of the colors from the logo, with the logo on the front and one of the landmark symbols on the shoulders.
