This was a different take on wedding invitations, showcasing a thoughtful blend of nerdy, fairy tale, and Lord of the Rings-y themes. When I have varied themes and elements, I use a color palette and consistent line weights on graphics and patterns to build trust in my cohesive design process.
Incorporating something as iconic as Lord of the Rings can become overt very quickly. To keep it subtle and wedding-appropriate, I focused on references like the swords of Aragorn and Arwen, along with typography choices. For the headers, I used P22 Morris Troy, and for the body text, Alize Bold, to create a refined look that hints at the theme without being overwhelming.
I wanted this invitation to feel curated for the couple, emphasizing their unique story. To make it more personal, I incorporated the first gift the bride received from the groom, a beluga whale stuffed animal. I also included a D20, a die used by Dungeons and Dragons players, with a heart to reflect their romance. A wedding-specific flower, like the stargazer lily, was also included to add meaningful detail. I included stickers to close the envelopes. The stickers also include a D20 in the background with the couple’s initials in front.
